OCCUPATIONAL FIELD 43, PUBLIC AFFAIRS


The public affairs OccFld includes the gathering, preparing, and disseminating of news and feature materials, to both internal and external audiences, about the Marine Corps' plans, policies, programs, regulations, changes, and operations and exercises.

This information is disseminated in both print and broadcast form to Civilian and military media outlets.

Marines in OccFld 43 conduct Community relations programs to promote and maintain harmonious relations with the civilian community, produce command newspapers/ magazines and radio/TV programs, and escort members of the civilian media within the confines of military installations/government property and in the area of operations during contingencies and exercises.

Billets are available at the headquarters staff levels at all major commands, as well as in support of the recruiting service when assigned as recruiting station Marketing and Public Affairs Representatives (MPA).

Marines entering OccFld 43 are assigned MOS 4300, Basic Combat Correspondent, to further be trained in print and broadcast skills.
