MOS 6602, Aviation Supply Officer (I)

a. Summary. Aviation supply officers are responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the performance and execution of aviation supply functions within Marine Aircraft Wings, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadrons, Marine Corps Air Stations CVs/LPHs/ LHAs and various TYCOM/SYSCOM staffs. This requires indepth familiarity and working knowledge sufficient to manage Navy developed and sponsored aviation automated management systems; repairable management programs; financial management programs; budgeting and accounting functions; aviation inventory functions; and warehousing operations. Aviation supply officers must ensure that aviation supply supports the unit's combat readiness or ability to perform its mission. They must be able to establish department goals and to develop the plans to meet goals. They must establish supply management aids to assist in tracking performance over time to ensure progress towards accomplishment of established goals. Aviation Supply officers must initiate and maintain liaison with external agencies to provide or obtain support and to report supply management indicators. Aviation supply officers must have a clear appreciation of the needs of the aviation maintenance and operational personnel who are the customers. Aviation supply officers may command, or assist in commanding, either an FMF/non-FMF service unit or school.

b. Requirements/Prerequisites.

(1) Complete the Aviation Supply Officers Course at Naval Supply Corps School, Athens, GA.

(2) Must have a secret security clearance.
