Major
General Weber is a native of Weimar, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M
University and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August 1972. Upon
completion of the Basic School and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, he
joined the 3rd Marine Division where he served as a Forward Observer and
Battalion Motor Transport Officer in 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines. Returning from
overseas in August 1974, he reported for duty at the 1st Field Artillery Group,
Twentynine Palms, California, where he served as Executive Officer, Headquarters
Battery.
In September 1975, First Lieutenant Weber transferred to the 1st Marine Brigade,
Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to serve as Fire Direction Officer, Liaison Officer, and
Battery Executive Officer. Following promotion to Captain, he assumed command of
Battery K, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines.
Upon returning to CONUS, Captain Weber completed the Field Artillery Officer
Advanced course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in May 1979 and was stationed in Jackson,
Mississippi as Inspector-Instructor, Battery F, 2d Battalion, 14th Marines. In
September 1982, he rejoined the 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan as the Regimental
S-3A and S-3. Returning to the U.S., Major Weber served from 1983 to 1985 on the
staff of the Commandant of Midshipmen, U.S. Naval Academy.
In January 1986 he reported to the University of Texas at Austin in the Advanced
Degree Program and earned a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Policy
Development from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. During a tour
at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps in Washington, D.C., he was promoted to the
rank of Lieutenant Colonel while serving as Head, Manpower Policy Section,
Manpower Plans, Policy, Programming, and Budgeting Branch.
Lieutenant Colonel Weber departed Headquarters Marine Corps in December 1989
reporting to Quarry Heights, Panama for duty as Special Assistant to the
Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Southern Command. In January 1991, he was assigned to
the 2nd Marine Division where he served as Officer-in-charge, 10th Marines
(Rear), prior to his assignment as the Regimental S-4. In July 1992, Lieutenant
Colonel Weber assumed command of 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines, and in January
1993 was selected for promotion to the rank of Colonel. In June of 1993 he
transferred to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he assumed duties as the Commanding
Officer, Marine Corps Artillery Detachment and Senior Marine Liaison to the U.S.
Army Field Artillery Center at Fort Sill. In October of 1995 Colonel Weber
reported for duty to the Commanding General, 1st Marine Division, Camp
Pendleton, California where he served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Readiness,
G-7. He assumed command of the 11th Marines in May of 1996. In February of 1998
Colonel Weber was selected for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General.
In June of 1998, Brigadier General Weber reported for duty as the Deputy of
Operations J-3 Directorate, U.S. European Command, Stuttgart, Germany. Brigadier
General Weber returned to CONUS in July of 2000 to assume the duties as
Commanding General, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command, Marine Corps
Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA. On June 12, 2002, Brigadier
General Weber assumed the duties as Commanding General, Third Marine Division in
Okinawa, Japan. On September 23, 2002 he was authorized to assume the title and
wear the uniform of Major General.
